The department offers four-year (8-term) undergraduate course leading to Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The course is designed in such a way as to provide broad spectrum of technical knowledge to the students through theory classes supported by tutorials, laboratory experiments and workshop practice. Due to advances and induction of Robotics and Automation in the modern industry, the department of Mechanical Engineering has taken full account of Industrial Electronics in the syllabus, which gives its graduates a wide variety of opportunities in almost every branch of industry.
The distinct feature of the department having 05 laboratories, which are fully furnished with the latest laboratory equipment. The jet engine test bench, supersonic wind tunnel, computer Controlled programmable lathe machine and a well-equipped workshop are fully operational. The workshop is not only used for conducting the practical at undergraduate level but is also working as a production unit to manufacture various articles for the University at relatively lower cost than the prevailing market rates.
The active area of research is energy sector and a project in this area was undertaken with the help of Swedish Government through AIT. The faculty members have received their specialized training and higher degrees from developed countries including UK, Japan, Republic of Ireland, Thailand (AIT) and Romania.
